He grew up in Longview, Washington and has lived and worked in Portland, Seattle, Spokane, and Yakima, returning to the Portland/Vancouver area in 2022 to be close to family. Dainen’s career includes representing hundreds of debtors and creditors in bankruptcy, collections, foreclosure, and related matters in state and federal courts. For nearly a decade, his work focused on resolution of contentious community disputes as general counsel to thousands of condominium and homeowner associations of all sizes and types throughout Washington State. Dainen also has experience with general real estate, probate and trust, and tax matters. In addition to receiving a Master of Laws from the University of Washington School of Law in Taxation, Dainen is admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court.
Dainen’s professional expertise includes solving complex legal and social dilemmas representing low-income clients, veterans, and vulnerable elderly clients in landlord-tenant, consumer, and foreclosure prevention cases. He was a staff attorney in the Yakima and Vancouver offices of Washington’s largest publicly-funded legal aid program, and was the executive director of an Eastern Washington legal aid nonprofit. Dainen has a robust pro bono practice and partners with legal aid and community organizations to help close the “justice gap” for those who cannot afford an attorney.
